Each State in Nigeria is divided into Local Government Areas. By the end of this post, you will know the number of local government in each state in Nigeria and their nameN

How many Local Government do we have in Nigeria?

The total number of local government in Nigeria is 774. Nigeria is a Federal Republic divided into thirty-six states. Each state is in turn divided into Local Government Areas (LGAs). Each Local Government is then further dived into wards. The Local Government Areas are governed by the Local Government Council which is made up of the Local Government Chairman and the Councillors from each ward.

There are seventeen Local Government Areas in Abia State. They are

Kano Assembly moves to impeach Ganduje over $5m bribe for contracts

 
As reactions continue to trail the videos of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje allegedly receiving $5 million as kickback from contractors, the Kano state House of Assembly has begun moves to impeach him.

Online news platform, DailyNigerian, on Sunday, October 14, 2018, released a video of Governor Ganduje receiving bundles of dollars as bribe from a contractor.
In a swift reaction, the Kano state government denied the video and threatened to sue the media organization.

But raising a matter of urgent public importance at the House on Monday, October, 15, 2018, a member representing Warawa Constituency, Labaran Madari, said the Assembly should investigate the authenticity of the video and take measures.
Madari said the videos had brought the institution of governance in the state to disrepute, and therefore the need for the legislators to take urgent action.
The matter was seconded by Baffa Dan’Agundi, a member representing Kano Municipal.
Responding, the speaker, Alhassan Rurum, constituted a seven-man committee to investigate the matter and report back to the assembly.
Members of the committee include Baffa Dan’Agundi (Kano Municipal) as chairman; Labaran Madari (Warawa); Garba Gafasa  (Ajingi); and Zubairu Masu, (Sumaila).
Others are Ayuba Labaran (Kabo); Abubakar Galadima (Bebeji); Garba Yau Gwarmai  (Kunchi/Tsanyawa), and Mujtafa Amin.
It was, however, gathered that the Assembly would serve Governor Ganduje an impeachment notice as soon as the committee submits its report.
“This is a serious matter that should not be swept under the carpet. We did preliminary investigation and found out the videos are genuine. The committee is just mere formality,”  said a member who craved anonymity told DailyNigerian.
“The governor confessed to some of us that it was real but he is now trying to stop us from exercising our constitutional duty.”
In another video released on Monday, Ganduje was seen receiving part of the $5million bribe money from contractors in the state.Download video

GANDUJE BRIBERY VIDEO: Kano govt, Presidency react

 
“The governor of Kano State wishes to once again emphatically debunk the allegation of receiving gratification of $5 Million or any amount whatsoever from any person or body. It is important to draw the attention of the general public to the fact that the alleger (sic) is a serial blackmailer and extorter (sic).
“We are also aware that the hidden motive is to reduce the popularity of the governor and consequently affect the anticipated quantum of APC votes from Kano in the 2019 general elections.

“While the state government is taking the legal action, we wish to assure the good people of Kano that His Excellency will remain focused and continue with laudable programmes that will add value to the lives of the people of Kano State.
“We also call on the general public, especially members of the APC to remain calm and always be law abiding”, the statement stated.
The Presidency’s reaction came from the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Diaspora & Foreign Affairs, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
She wrote on her Twitter page, “No audio?? Suspicious.”

The right way to clean your ear is to employ a method known as irrigation. Irrigation is a great way to remove any foreign body or wax buildup in the ear.
All you need to do is pour clean, lukewarm water into a bowl. Ensure that you use water that’s not too hot or cold, as that can stimulate the auditory nerve—which also controls your balance—and cause dizziness. You can add a few drops of household-strength hydrogen peroxide if you wish.
Hold a towel or another bowl under the affected ear to catch the water as it comes out.
Using the water in the bowl, fill up a bulb syringe, a medical syringe without the needle, or a plastic bag or bottle with a pinhole in the bottom. With the arm that’s opposite the ear (for example, your left arm if you’re irrigating your right ear), reach around the back of your head, grab your ear, and pull back and slightly upward.
Squeeze the bag, bulb, or whatever you’re using so the water squirts into the ear canal with steady pressure.
You will know that you are done once the object or glob of wax in your ear comes out. You should however note that you should stop if the irrigation hasn’t worked within about five minutes or if you have pain or dizziness. You can try again in a few hours. By that time the wax, if that’s your problem, should be even softer.
After you’re done, put a couple of drops of alcohol in your ear to help dry up excess water.
And there you have it. You don’t have to stress yourself with cotton buds and Q-tips while also worrying about damaging your ears. Use the irrigation method and thank us later for it.

Abia pipeline explosion: 150 dead; security operatives collected N1,000 from each person to scoop – Monarchs

 
UMUAHIA—THE death toll from last Friday’s Osisioma pipeline explosion in Abia is said to have risen to over 24, even as Eze Ikechukwu Chiavoghilefu, Chairman, Osisioma Local Government Traditional Rulers Council, put the figure at 150.

This is just as another monarch accused security operatives of causing the disaster, as they were collecting money from the villagers that came to scoop fuel, instead of preventing them from entering the site.According to Eze Chiavoghilefu, the number of casualties has been rising steadily, as, according to him, dozens of people that were badly burnt eventually died.
He specifically cited a particular health clinic, where about 70 victims were taken to after the incident happened on Friday, saying that in less than 24 hours over 30 of them died.

The monarch, who spoke when the Senator representing the area in the National Assembly, Chief Theodore Orji, visited the affected communities to sympathise with the victims, insisted that the death toll has risen to over 150.

According to the monarch, “about 70 persons were packed to the health clinic near my palace on the first day it happened. All of them are now dead. Up to 150 have so far died.”
He said their communities have been thrown into mourning as victims keep dying every day on account of the severe burns they sustained.
Another monarch, Eze Godswill Mgbarime of Umueze, one of the affected communities, also said so many of his subjects had died as a result of injuries they sustained from the explosion.
Eze Mgbarime blamed the disaster on security operatives who he said were collecting money from villagers that were coming to scoop fuel from a leaking pipeline, rather than stopping them from gaining access to the scene.
According to Eze Mgbarime, “when the leakage occurred, some security men arrived the place and, instead of doing their job, they were collecting N1,000 from each person that came to scoop fuel there.

Speaking during the visit, Senator Orji called on the Federal Government to quickly direct the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, to move relief materials and medication to the affected communities, even as he lamented the level of devastation and tragedy caused by the explosion.
“I came and I have seen a lot of damage. So many lives were lost; houses and farmlands destroyed,” he lamented.
He expressed grief over the incident which he described as “a disaster of unimaginable magnitude.”
Senator Orji, who lamented the failure of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, to repair the leaky pipelines despite being duly notified, said it was negligence and called for investigation.
However, he noted, no excuse justifies the action of locals who were allegedly scooping fuel from the leaking pipes, considering the high risk involved.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Police Officer in the area, Mr. Obongoma Udosen, said 19 corpses were recovered from one of the scenes, four in another area, saying some of the victims had been moved to the Abia State University Teaching Hospital, Aba.
