EPL: Sarri speaks on Mourinho, Man United ahead of Chelsea match
Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri has described Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho as one of the best coaches in the world, ahead his side’s Premier League fixture against the Red Devils on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
The Italian also called for respect for Mourinho, adding that the Portuguese gaffer has won everything there is to win in football.
Sarri, however, said that Mourinho’s team has the best player-by-player in the Premier League.
“We are talking about a coach [Mourinho] that has won everything, everywhere, so I think you all have to respect him,” Sarri was quoted by Metro UK as saying at Friday’s pre-match press conference.
“I think he is a very good coach, a very good manager and one of the best in the world.
“I don’t know about the problem with Antonio, on the pitch you can be a little nervous and tense, you can say everything in that moment. I think Conte respects Mourinho and visa versa.”
Sarri added, “I think they are a very strong team. Maybe player-by-player, they are the best team in the league.
“At the moment City is more of a team, but player-by-player they are very, very strong.
“We are talking only about eight matches, they are doing well in the Champions League so they can improve in the Premier League, we are talking about two months.”
The kick-off time for the match is 12:30pm.

2019 presidency: What Babaginda told Obasanjo about suffering in Nigeria – Keyamo
Director of Media of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has recalled what former Military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida told former President, Olusegun Obasanjo about the sufferings of Nigerians in 2002.
Keyamo said that Obasanjo and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, were trying to deceive young Nigerians by telling them that there was no suffering during their tenure.
Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, posted a front page of a national newspaper dated 2002 where Babaginda was quoted to have cautioned Obasanjo that “Nigerians are suffering” on his Twitter handle to drive home his point.
Keyomo tweeted, “Because they are targeting the younger voters who don’t know their record, they say there was no suffering at all during their tenure.
“This publication was in 2002, which was exactly 3 years into their first term.”

PDP guber candidate, Seyi Makinde threatens Ajimobi with legal action over State’s finances
Gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has threatened to sue Governor Abiola Ajimobi and the state government over its continued silence on issues concerning the state’s finances.
Makinde in statement signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, his media aide, said that he had “made repeated public demands from the present administration to publish and itemise what it had done with the N157bn debt incurred in the past seven years and particularly, the borrowing of N70bn between 2016 and 2017.”
The PDP stalwart said that he had “waited for seven months for an explanation from the state government to no avail and has, therefore, taken the decision to go to court and invoke the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) in order to get a public response from the government.”
Makinde in the statement made available to DAILY POST also said he intended through the legal action, to compel the government to explain its statement that it did not owe those whose properties it destroyed to pave way for some road projects in the metropolis.
He said “it was puzzling that the same government also stated that the roads in Oke Ogun were neglected because they are Trunk A roads thus, the responsibility of the federal government”.
Makinde while speaking on the increment of the school fees of students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, added that “the increase of school fees paid by LAUTECH students from N65,000 to N250,000 is both insensitive and cruel at a period when their parents enjoy little or nothing from government and the economic climate has made them even more vulnerable.”
He concluded by asking the two state governors, Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo) and Rauf Aregbesola (Osun) “to rescind that order immediately and apologise to the traumatised parents and students”.

EPL: Mark Lawrenson predicts results of Chelsea vs Man United, Arsenal vs Leicester City
Former Liverpool defender, Mark Lawrenson has predicted Chelsea to play a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League fixture on Saturday afternoon at the Stamford Bridge.
He also predicted Arsenal to defeat Leicester City 2-1 in Monday’s Premier League fixture at the Emirates Stadium.
“The reason I see it being so tight is that I think we will see Mourinho park the bus, because he will not want to go back to Chelsea and be embarrassed,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“I know United recovered from 2-0 down to beat Newcastle before the international break, but they are not exactly on a good run of results.
“There is an argument that Mourinho prefers to play the better teams – his overall record in these kind of games is really good – which is why I think they will get a draw here. Prediction Chelsea 1, Manchester United 1.
On Arsenal vs Leicester City game, he added: “Arsenal are on a run of nine straight wins in all competitions, and I would expect them to beat Leicester as well.
“Like Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, Gunners boss Unai Emery has come in and is doing a very good job.
“That shows they are clearly both good managers, but it also shows that both clubs are very well run, with good resources and some excellent players. “Prediction Arsenal 2 Leicester City 0”.
The kick-off time for Chelsea vs Man United is 12:30pm, while Arsenal vs Leicester City is 8pm.

EPL: Brown identifies area Man United need improvement, advises Mourinho
Former Manchester United defender, Wes Brown has identified one area the club needs to improve this season.
According to him, the Red Devils need to improve on their defence line.
Brown, however, urged United manager, Jose Mourinho to make more good signings during the January transfer window that will help consolidate the centre-backs.
“I don’t think United need to improve much but they need to sort out the defence,” Brown exclusively told Express Sport.
“I like having the two same centre-backs all of the time. Maybe that’s what the manager is trying to sort out at the moment.
“The signings are going to come and go – there are going to be more signings in January. And there’ll be more again in the summer. That’s football, that’s what happens.”
United will take on Chelsea in an away Premier League fixture on Saturday afternoon.
The kick-off time for the match is 12:30pm.

NNPC reveals real cause of Abia Fire
News
The Corporation disclosed this in a statement signed by its spokesman, Mr Ndu Ughamadu, in Abuja.
According to NAN, he denied claim that negligence on the part of the corporation caused the fire incident Friday last week.
He said the incident was triggered off by suspected oil thieves who had hacked into System 2E pipeline network with a view to intercepting the flow of petrol from Port Harcourt to Aba.
Ughamadu said the clarification became necessary in view of the recent statement by a legislator indicting NNPC on the fire outbreak, which had claimed lives and valuable property .
The NNPC spokesperson explained that the presence of items such as jerrycans, among others, at the scene of the incident as contained in the preliminary report on the matter indicated that the activities of vandals in the area ignited the flame.
He regretted that incessant vandalism of pipeline facilities along System 2Ex Pipeline Right of Way (PROW) has led to the underutilisation of the Enugu Depot, saying that the breaches have prevented the corporation from pumping fuel into it.
He called on relevant government agencies to collaborate with the corporation to appropriately criminalise vandalism of oil facilities across the country, adding that host communities should also partner the NNPC to tame the scourge.
Ughamadu prayed that God reposes the souls of the innocent ones that perished in the incident and warned members of the public against tempering with oil facilities which he described as inflammable.
