Tony Zitta 'Police stole from accident victim and left him to die', eyewitnesses say
According to eyewitnesses, Tony Zitta, a young man who was undergoing the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in Nigeria’s capital city of Abuja, was involved in an accident, robbed by police at the accident scene and left to bleed to death.
A twitter account called @thecapitalmvmt narrated that: “Tony Zitta, a corper serving in Abuja and a founding member of the Capital movement was driving home and was hit at the junction of Diamond bank, Wuse II along Ademola Adetekumbo.
“An unidentified BMW 325 CI rammed into Tony’s Toyota Camry leaving him unconscious. Witnesses at the scene claim that the first police response unit instead of helping Tony (who was with the ticket money from the event) looted his vehicle”.

The account added that the police tried to cover up the culpability of the BMW owner by "helping the driver of the BMW to escape, clearing his vehicle and removing his license plate. Then leaving Tony there to die".
The account added that "some ladies at the scene however came and intervened as the first policemen tried to steal his items successfully, saving his computer and camera.
"As the ladies created a commotion, other people came and made sure the second group of responders carried the BMW and Tony’s camry to the police station as some friends of the BMW owner had sent a tow truck to try and move the BMW away from the crime scene".
#TheCapitalMovement said passers-by took Zitta from one hospital to another until he passed on after losing too much blood.
“He was referred to Gwagwalada teaching hospital an hour away. They claimed they drained his head of blood and he was stabilizing. The family and friends brought several doctors and neurosurgeons to see him but the hospital didnt allow claiming he was ok. Then on Monday morning he passed”.

Buhari to pardon late Ambrose Ali whom he sentenced to 100 years in 1983
President Muhammadu Buhari is considering presidential pardon for late Professor Ambrose Alli, former Governor of Bendel State (now Edo and Delta States), according to Edo Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Obaseki revealed this at a memorial service held in honour of the former governor, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Emaudo, Ekpoma, on Sunday.
“I had an audience with President Muhammadu Buhari while in China and discussed the issue of a presidential pardon for late Prof. Alli.
“The president asked me to meet with the Attorney-General of the Federation. This I have done and I have also written to him.
“The president has subsequently instructed the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to begin the process,” he said.
The governor said he was optimistic that at the next meeting of the Council on Prerogative of Mercy, the president would grant the pardon.
Obaseki also gave the assurance that he was working with his Delta counterpart to ensure that pension due to late Alli was paid to his widow and the family.
The governor praised the former governor’s development strides in his single term in the defunct Bendel.

On his part, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta said the state would continue to remember Alli for developing it, adding that the people had a lot to thank him for.
“We are grateful, as his developmental strides can still be seen years after his death,” he said.
Eldest son to the former governor, Mr Andrew Alli, the Ezomo of Ekpoma, regretted that his father was still termed a criminal despite his contributions to the development of Delta, Edo and Nigeria.
Alli was reportedly arrested and sentenced to 100 years in prison by a military tribunal for allegedly misappropriating N983,000 meant for a road project when the military government of then Major-General Muhammadu Buhari took power in 1983.
He was said to have been later freed when the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, paid a fine to the government.

Kaduna now a failed State – Senator Hunkuyi, others speak on crisis
Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi representing Kaduna North Senatorial district has stated that Kaduna State has become a failed State as a result of crisis that started a few days ago.
The lawmaker explained that the crisis has defied all security measures, saying innocent people continue to die due to different attacks.
He demanded the release of Adara traditional ruler who was whisked away to an unknown destination by security agents amid the crisis.
The lawmaker further lamented that the perpetrators of the crisis in the state have not been brought to justice since 1992, saying the government has been pretending not to know them.
“Mr President, distinguished colleagues, you will agree with me that some elements have been sponsoring carnage in the state without being brought to justice by the government.”
“It’s unfortunate that government would pretend to not knowing those behind the heinous acts. ”

Senator Shehu Sani representing Kaduna Central while announcing his new party platform, PRP said, Kaduna crisis was due to religious and ethnic bigotry.

Man United vs Juventus: What Ronaldo will love to do to us at Old Trafford – Mourinho
Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho, has stated that Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, will love to score against the Red Devils despite his affection for the club when both teams clash in tonight’s Champions League fixture.
Ronaldo will face his former club at Old Trafford for the first time in five years on Tuesday night.
The Portuguese international spent six years at United during former United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign, winning three Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Ballon d’Or before moving to Real Madrid in 2009.
Ronaldo’s last appearance against United at their home was in the knockout stage of the 2012-13 Champions League, when he scored what proved to be the winning goal in a 3-2 aggregate victory for Real Madrid.
And Mourinho, who was Madrid’s manager at the time, fully expects the 33-year-old to want to strike against United.
Mourinho’s side head to the game following a 2-2 draw with Chelsea at the weekend, while Juventus played a 1-1 draw with Genoa in the Serie A fixture.
“He [Ronaldo] came back with me in Real Madrid. It was a knockout match and I know how much he loves Manchester United. I know that, but I also know how much he wanted to win here and score against Manchester United and win against Manchester United,” Mourinho told Manchester United’s website.
“Ronaldo scored, and they won. So, [on Tuesday], more of the same. The fans will show the respect he deserves. He will show that to the fans too. I know that he really loves the club but when the ball starts rolling, he wants to score, and he wants to win.”

Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu may be out to frustrate Atiku/Obi’s presidency – Reuben Abati
A former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reuben Abati, has opined that the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu may be acting out a script by resurfacing at a time when the political atmosphere in the country was gathering momentum, ahead of 2019.
Abati hinted that Kanu’s decision to resurface from his hiding place may have a political undertone.
In his latest article titled, “Nnamdi Kanu as “Wailing Wailer,” Abati said Kanu may be a “curveball” being used to “frustrate the Atiku-Obi’s ticket.”
The embattled IPOB leader, who has not been seen since September 2017, had last week Friday resurfaced in Jerusalem praying.
However, Abati in his article wrote: “Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the separatist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) movement suddenly resurfaced in Jerusalem, Israel at the Wailing Wall, after his one-year disappearance that resulted in speculations about his whereabouts. Kanu has since issued a statement through Radio Biafra in which he denounced the Nigerian state and boasted that no Nigerian court can do anything to him.
“Before disappearing from sight, under the cloud of the invasive Operation Python Dance in his home state of Abia, IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu had accused the Nigerian government of trying to kill him and destroy the Biafran movement that he leads. He has now been quoted as saying: “(The) Nigerian court is a kangaroo court. I did not jump bail. I left because the court failed to protect me. I shall not be honouring the court. I cannot be tried by a court I do not recognize. Nigeria cannot jail me.”
“Whatever may be the quality of Nnamdi Kanu’s grievances, he must be told in clear terms that he cannot make such claims of superiority to the state as he has done.
“No non-Nigerian can even say that Nigerian courts are unacceptable and yet engage in acts that could have implications for Nigeria’s sovereignty. Kanu says he escaped during the invasion of his home by Nigerian soldiers. We have condemned that invasion – its manner, style and intent. We have defended the right of indigenous peoples to ask for self-determination, under the right circumstances. But no other Nigerian, including Igbos, believes that Nnamdi Kanu is superior to the Nigerian state.
“He is on record as having said: “I am Nnamdi Kanu, no mortal flesh can kill me. They have not given birth to that very person. Since they didn’t want me to come to court, I shall come back to Biafra land…” If no mortal flesh can kill him, why run away then? Ple-a-se! Some other reports indicate that when Nnamdi Kanu returns, he will bring “hell”. I am not sure that is a correct public statement to make.
“I do not see many Nigerians who are looking forward to a promised “hell”. They are in hell already. And they are not likely to rely on the words of a man who vanished, when the Nigerian hell became too hot, but he is now bragging that he will return and lead his followers to a hotter part of hell. When and if Kanu returns, (he is probably just bluffing), he may find a smaller crowd behind him. What will he say to the many families who lost loved ones and property while he and his own family fled to safety? “I owe my survival to the state of Israel”, Kanu says. “I want to send my solidarity to @GovAyoFayose”, he purportedly added.
“There may be politics tied to Nnamdi Kanu’s return. Why now, when an Igbo man, has been named by the opposition party as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate? Is anyone using Nnamdi Kanu as a curveball to frustrate the Atiku-Obi ticket? Who dragged him out of whatever hole he crawled into, now to use him to play politics? However, by his conduct, and utterances, Kanu has watered down the potency of the revolution that he leads. He disappointed many. He has also failed to realise that while he was absent from the battle front, the dynamics of the revolution changed.
“He wants to hold a Biafra referendum. The only referendum Nigerians are interested in at this moment is a referendum on
