FOOT BALL FEDARATION IN AUSTRALLIA

The Coalition of Major Professional and Participation Sports (COMPPS) today announced that David Gallop AM, the CEO of Football Federation Australia, will become the new Chairperson of COMPPS, effective immediately, with James Sutherland stepping down as the current Chairperson following his resignation as CEO of Cricket Australia.
James Sutherland has held the position of Chairperson since COMPPS was formed in 2009, and has been CEO of Cricket Australia since 2001. He will officially vacate his role as CEO of Cricket Australia at their Annual General Meeting later this month.
Gallop is recognised as one of the leading sports administrators in Australia having been the CEO of Football Federation Australia since 2012 and was previously the CEO of the National Rugby League (NRL) from 2002 to 2012. David has also served as served as Deputy Chairman of the Australian Sports Commission, Secretary of the Rugby League International Federation and a member of the Asian Football Confederation Competitions Committee. In 2016 David was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the General Division for significant services to sports administration through executive roles with football and rugby league organisations and to the community.
COMPPS Executive Director, Malcom Speed, paid tribute to James and his contribution to Australian Sport over the past 25 years and more recently as the Chairperson of COMPPS, and congratulated David on his new appointment.
“James has provided strong and sound leadership for the Chief Executives of the other sports that operate under the COMPPS banner. He is highly respected by the other Chief Executives and they have responded well to his leadership,” said Speed.
“David will be an excellent replacement for James with a wide experience across two major professional sports and his time as deputy chair of Sport Australia (Australian Sports Commission) provides him a great insight into the role government plays as a major stakeholder in sport,” concluded Speed.
James Sutherland congratulated Mr Gallop on his appointment to the role.
“COMPPS has been critical in ensuring sports work together to innovate and advocate across Australia for the best outcome for athletes, participants and the industry as a whole.
“COMPPS will continue to play a vital role in connecting the major participation sporting bodies as we strive to keep more Australian’s active.
“I congratulate David on his appointment as Chairperson and thank all members for their support during my tenure,” concluded Sutherland.
David Gallop also recognised James Sutherland’s legacy as chairperson of COMPPS and is looking forward to continuing to improve the status and voice of Sport in Australia.
” It has been a pleasure to work under the chairmanship of James – he has provided important leadership among the COMPPS members during his time on numerous matters affecting the industry.
“When the sports come together under COMPPS they are a powerful voice that represents millions of Australians in advocating for positions that enhance and protect the importance place that sport plays in the community.
“I look forward to continuing his good work for the betterment of professional and participation sports”, concluded Gallop.

Government releases funding to help more athletes qualify for Olympics

‘Aspiration fund’ totalling £3m for Tokyo 2020 and beyond
Paralympic sports such as wheelchair rugby also eligible

Olympic sports such as badminton, basketball and surfing, which do not receive elite funding by UKSport, will be able to apply for up to £500,000 of financial help from a new “aspiration fund” set up by the government.
Paralympic sports, such as wheelchair rugby and goal ball, will also be eligible for the scheme, which is designed to help athletes from more sports to qualify for Tokyo 2020 and beyond.
Tracey Crouch, the minister for sport and civil society, said the fund, which amounts to £3m in total, would enable more athletes the chance to inspire the nation.
“UK Sport investment has transformed Britain into an Olympic and Paralympic powerhouse,” she said. “But there are sports, not on UK Sport’s world-class programme, that do a huge amount of good in communities that we can help on their path to the podium.”
Liz Nicholl, the chief executive of UK Sport, called it a “fantastic opportunity” for more sports to get on track for the Tokyo Games.
She said: “Many of the sports we are unable to support, while further away from reaching the podium, have great potential not only to inspire through their performances but also to have a social impact in communities across the UK.”
Table-tennis, skateboarding, handball and baseball/softball are also expected to apply for the scheme. To receive funding, which will run until the end of the Tokyo 2020 cycle, sports will have to convince the government they will engage and inspire communities.
The announcement was given a cautious welcome by David Pond, the chief executive of GB wheelchair rugby, which lost all of its UK Sport funding after finishing fifth at Rio 2016. “Any additional funding will obviously help us,” he said, “but the reality is next year I need to raise £400,000 to help us prepare us properly for the 2020 Paralympics.”

Grieving Lady Wears Wedding Dress To Dead Fiance's Grave On The Day They Were To Get Married

Heartbroken bride, Jessica Padgett (pictured), wore her wedding dress to visit her fiance
Kendall James Murphy's grave on the day they were supposed to say 'I do'
A grieving bride wore her wedding dress to visit her fiance's grave on the day they were supposed to say 'I do'.
Heartbreaking photos show Jessica Padgett kneeling in front of Kendall James Murphy's headstone on September 29.
Murphy, who was a firefighter for Montgomery, Indiana, was tragically killed in November 2017 when his colleague, Colby Blake, crashed his vehicle into three cars as they responded to a call.

The photos were taken by Loving Life Photography and shared on Facebook. The post has been shared more than 21,000 times
Blake, from Cannelburg, was not injured but he allegedly had a blood alcohol level of .21 per cent which is more than double the legal limit of .08.
In honor of her husband's memory, Jessica posed for several photos with Murphy's boots, his tombstone, his firefighting gear and with loved ones.

A note was attached to the boots that read: 'Jessica, no matter your path, I'm with you always. Love, your guardian angel, Kendall James'
In one tear-jerking image, Jessica is seen holding Murphy's boots with his image photoshopped in place beside her.
'She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She walked with the Universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings,' the photographer wrote in the caption of the photo.
The maid of honor and best man both gave speeches before the family lit paper sky lanterns above Murphy's gravesite.
Family members console Jessica as she prepared to take photos in her wedding dress last month
Murphy, Blake and another firefighter had responded to a crash site along with the Daviess County Sheriff's Department on the night Murphy was killed.
The firefighters had received a call about a driver who was stuck inside his vehicle.
While responding to the scene, Blake rear-ended another truck with his truck and kept going to strike another vehicle.

Murphy had already arrived on the scene in his personal vehicle and parked it. He exited the vehicle and opened the left rear passenger door to retrieve his protective clothing.
As he did so, he was struck by Blake's vehicle. The 27-year-old died on the scene.
Blake was arrested and charged with causing death when operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of .15 or more.

The case is still not set for trial.
Murphy was a 'selfless man of God who loved spending time with family and friends', according to the National Fallen Firefighters Association.
'He had a true servant’s heart and captivating personality that would light up any room. His wittiness would make anyone laugh and have him making friends in no time. He didn’t know a stranger,' the association added.

Jessica is seen hugging family members as several of them become emotional during the photoshoot
The Murphy and Padgett families attended the National Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland to honor Kendall on October 7.
'What a emotional, amazing weekend this was! This foundation not only honored my Kendall, but also took us in as family,' Jessica wrote on Facebook.
'This wasn’t what we wanted in the end, but at least we know we will never be alone, we have all become one big supporting family [sic]. You will forever be in our hearts #616,' she added.
Murphy had been with the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department since June 2016.
He was 'following his father and grandfather's footsteps' when he joined the department.See original

WS Melania discusses Trump’s alleged infidelities

Melania Trump has more pressing matters on her mind than allegations of infidelity by her husband, she insisted in a no-holds-barred interview that airs Friday.
“I’m a mother and a first lady, and I have much more important things to think about and to do,” she told ABC News when asked whether President Trump’s alleged straying has put a strain on their marriage.
“It is not concern and focus of mine,” she told correspondent Tom Llamas in an interview conducted during her recent solo tour to Africa.
The president has denied porn star Stormy Daniels’ allegations that she had a fling with the future commander-in-chief more than a decade ago – though he has admitted reimbursing Michael Cohen, his former personal attorney, a $130,000 hush payment.
Rudy Giuliani, the president’s current personal lawyer, said in June that the first lady “believes her husband, and she knows it’s untrue,” referring her thoughts on Daniels’ claims.
But the first lady brushed aside the former New York City mayor’s remarks.
“I never talked to Mr. Giuliani,” she said. Asked why he made that claim, she added: “I don’t know. You need to ask him.”
Melania said the constant barrage of embarrassing stories in the last year is “not always pleasant.”
“But I know what is right and what is wrong and what is true and not true,” she said, adding that the first couple’s marriage is solid.
“Yes, we are fine,” she said. “It’s what media speculate, and it’s gossip. It’s not always correct stuff.”
In her wide-ranging interview, which airs in full at 10 p.m. Friday, the first lady also addresses the infamous jacket she wore as she visited immigrant children along the border with Mexico.
“Let’s talk about the jacket,” Llamas says about the parka, which carried the mystifying words “I really don’t care, do u?” across the back.
“The jacket,” she replies in the snippet, which doesn’t give away de
